The sweater Vinda sports an eye-catching cable pattern, which twists from the high collar down the yoke. The cables occur again at the cuffs of both body and sleeves. The top-down construction facilitates easy adjustments regarding length for both body and sleeves and the finishing touches will take minimal time. Short rows in the yoke ensure a good fit at the neck and shoulders.
Sizes: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 -7 / Sweater circumference 88 – 95 – 102 – 109 – 116 – 123 – 130 cm / 34¾ – 37½ – 40¼ – 43 – 45¾ – 48½ – 51¼ in.
Gauge: 18 sts, 23 rows in stockinette = 10×10 sm / 4×4 in.
Needles: Main needles for yoke, body and sleeves: Circular needles in different lengths, size to obtain the right gauge. Recommended size: 4.5 or 5 mm [US size 7 or 8]. For cuffs: Circular needles and set of double pointed needles 0.5 mm [US 1 size] finer than main needles. For collar: Set of double pointed needles 1 mm [US 2 sizes] finer than main needles. One long circular needle in each size is sufficient, if work is knitted with the magic loop technique. Cable needle.
Yarn: Worsted weight yarn of your choice, see table for meterage/yardage. The sweater pictured on the front page is knitted up with Lama Tweed from CaMaRose (50 g = 100 m/109 yd), color 6453 Pudder.
You will need approximately 400 – 450 – 500 – 550 – 600 – 600 g / 800 – 900 – 1000 – 1100 – 1200 – 1200 m / 875 -985 – 1094 – 1203 – 1312 – 1312 -1422 yd.
Difficulty level: 3 out of 5. The pattern requires basic knowledge of knitting techniques: Casting on, working knit and purl stitches, binding off, picking up stitches to knit and working right and left slanting increases. The cable pattern is worked according to charts. The yoke is formed using short rows. Tips and explanations are incorporated in the pattern description, as well as charts, abbreviations and other useful information.
